Oracle Report Development Lead
Job Summary:
Next Generation, Inc, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is seeking a full-time, long-term Lead for Oracle Report Development. Responsibilities will include designing, developing, and deploying reporting using Oracle tools. This is a hybrid position with frequent travel to Alexandria, Virginia.
Job responsibilities:
- Management: Oversee a team of report developers.
- Track assigned report tasks, mentor and convey progress to project stakeholders.
- Report Design: Collaborate with business analysts and end-users to gather requirements and understand the reporting needs of the organization. Design report layouts, data structures, and visualization elements to meet business objectives.
- Report Development: Develop reports using Oracle reporting tools such as Oracle Reports, Oracle BI, Oracle APEX or Oracle Analytics Cloud.
- Data Extraction and Transformation: Extract and transform data from Oracle databases and other sources to populate reports. Perform data validation, cleansing and formatting to ensure data accuracy.
- Report Customization: Customize report templates and layouts to match organizational branding and user preferences.
- Report Optimization: Optimize report performance by fine-tuning SQL queries and utilizing indexing and caching strategies. Identify and address bottlenecks in report generation processes.
- Data Visualization: Create visually appealing charts, graphs, and tables to present data in a meaningful and easily understandable format
- Report Automation: Implement automated report scheduling and distribution to deliver reports to stakeholders at specified intervals. Integrate with Oracle job scheduling and email notification systems.
- Data Security: Ensure that sensitive and confidential data is appropriately secured within reports, adhering to data access and privacy policies.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing of reports to ensure data accuracy and report functionality.
- Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for reports, including data sources, report specifications and user guides.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensure that reports comply with data governance and regulatory requirements. Maintain audit trails and data retention policies.
Job requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 7+ years industry experience, 3+ of which should be in Oracle Cloud projects.
- Proven experience of 5+ years in a lead or managerial role.
- Proven experience as a Report Developer with a proficiency in Oracle reporting tools
- Strong knowledge of Oracle databases and SQL query writing.
- Proficiency in report design, including creating report layouts, data structures and visualization elements.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams, business analysts and stakeholders
- Strong communications and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to frequently travel to the Washington, DC metro area.
